Description of the correction
The data published in connection with the base year revision of real estate prices included some observations twice due to human error.
The error had an effect on the point figures and distribution data released on old single-family houses for the base year 2020=100 in all published times.
For earlier base years (1985=100, 2010=100 and 2015=100), the error had an effect only on the index point figures of the first quarter of 2023.
Changes in the index point figures are mostly minor and do not affect all point figures in the whole time series. For example, the point figures for January to March 2023 are mainly corrected by 0 to 0.2 percentage points. In the first quarter of 2023, the correction has most effect on Western Finland, where the index point figure was corrected by 0.7 percetange points and in municipalities with 20,000 to 59,999 inhabitants, where the index point figure was corrected by 0.6 percentage points.
The corrected database tables and release will be published on June 1st 2023.
