Number of passengers at Finnish airports still far from the level of 2019 in August 2021
22 Sep 2021
According to Statistics Finland, a total of 523,050 passengers flew through Finnish airports in August 2021, which was 57 per cent more than one year ago, but still 77 per cent fewer than in August 2019. The exceptionally high relative growth in the number of passengers compared to the year before is caused by the collapse of air traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic in spring 2020. There were 445,115 passengers at Helsinki Airport and a total of 77,935 passengers at other domestic airports. Helsinki Airport accounted for 85 per cent of all passengers at domestic airports.
