Non-subsidised rents increased in July to September 2023

According to Statistics Finland, rents of non-subsidised dwellings increased by 0.5 per cent in Greater Helsinki and by 2.0 per cent in a year in the rest of Finland in July to September 2023. The rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings rose most in Hämeenlinna (2.5%), Oulu (2.5%), Riihimäki (2.2%) and Tampere (2.2%) and least in Espoo (0.2%), Helsinki (0.4%) and Rauma (0.5%).

Key selections

  • Rents in non-subsidised dwellings have risen most from the previous year in one-room flats in Oulu by 3.0 per cent, in two-room flats in Riihimäki by 2.5 per cent and in family dwellings in Hämeenlinna by 3.4 per cent.
  • Rents of non-subsidised one-room flats increased by only 0.3 per cent in Greater Helsinki. Rents of one-room flats went up by 1.8 per cent in the rest of Finland.
  • The rise in rents of government-subsidised dwellings accelerated. Rents of government-subsidised dwellings went up by 3.2 per cent in Greater Helsinki and by 3.5 per cent in the rest of the country from the previous year.
  • Examined by postal code area, the average rent per square metre of non-subsidised one-room flats exceeded EUR 30 only in Katajanokka (00160) in Helsinki.
