Costs of civil engineering rose in August 2022 by 15.2 per cent from one year ago

According to Statistics Finland, the costs of civil engineering rose by 15.2 per cent from August 2021 to August 2022. The annual change in costs varied by sub-index from 23.2 per cent for surfacing to 9.2 per cent for concrete structures.

Line chart. The starting point of the index in 2015 is 100. The total index has risen fairly evenly throughout the time series. In the sub-index of surfacing, sharp rises and falls fluctuate, although in 2021 the rise has been stronger than before. Earth structures are developing steadily.

Examined by cost factor, the biggest cost increases occurred in the costs of own machinery (27.8 %) and material costs (18.5 %).
The rise in the total index was most influenced by higher prices of motor fuel oil, bitumen and purchased transport services.
