Non-subsidised rents increased in January to March 2023

According to Statistics Finland, rents of non-subsidised dwellings increased by 1.0 per cent in Greater Helsinki and by 2.1 per cent in a year in the rest of Finland in January to March 2023. The rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings rose most in Hämeenlinna (3.1 %), Oulu (2.9 %) and Rovaniemi (2.9 %) and least in Rauma (0.4 %), Pori (0.4 %) and Mikkeli (0.5%).

Key selections

  • Rents in non-subsidised dwellings have risen most from the previous year in one-room flats in Rovaniemi (2.7%), in two-room flats in Oulu (3.0%) and in family dwellings in Hämeenlinna (4.1%).
  • Rents of non-subsidised one-room flats rose by only 0.5 per cent in Greater Helsinki. Rents of one-room flats went up by 1.8 per cent in the rest of Finland.
  • Rents of government-subsidised dwellings went up by 1.7 per cent in Greater Helsinki and by 1.8 per cent in the rest of the country in a year.
  • Examined by postal code area, the average rent per square metre of non-subsidised one-room flats exceeded EUR 30 only in Katajanokka (00160) in Helsinki.
