Transport in domestic waterborne traffic decreased by 43 per cent in August 2023

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, the goods volume in domestic waterborne traffic totalled 0,3 million tonnes in August 2023. Transport in domestic waterborne traffic decreased by 43 per cent compared to August 2022. In August 2023 domestic water transport took place almost only in coastal waterways.

Oil products and timber were transported most in domestic waterborne traffic in August

Oil products were transported most, in total 178,133 tonnes, which was 54 per cent of all transport. The second most transported was timber, 67,432 tonnes, which was 20 per cent of all transport.
