Description
These statistics describe the structures and structural changes in service industries. The basic variables of the statistics are personnel data as well as gross and added value of production. The data are classified by industry and region.
Data content
The data contain information on the number of personnel, wages and salaries, social insurance contributions, and gross and added value of production of an establishment. In addition, the material contains classification data relating to the location and activity of the establishment. The identifying code is the establishment code.
Because the data describe business activity at the unit level, their use and disclosure are subject to general rules on confidentiality. The statistics compiled from the data are public under the condition that no individual establishment’s data can be identified from them.
Classifications used
Standard Industrial Classification TOL 2002. Regional division into municipalities valid in the latest statistical reference year. The statistics are compiled by region.
Data collection methods and data sources
The data for the regional and industrial statistics on services derive from statistics on the financial statements of enterprises and the data on establishments from the Register of Enterprises and Establishments. The statistics on the financial statements contain all the data needed in the production of these statistics. Single-establishment enterprises are assigned data direct from the statistics on financial statements. Data for the service establishments of multiple-establishment enterprises are produced with statistical methods by exploiting data on enterprises from the statistics on financial statements and data on establishments from the Register of Enterprises and Establishments. The data on establishments in the Register of Enterprises and Establishments cover number of personnel, turnover, and classification variables, such as industry, location, type, etc., of establishments.

Time of completion or release
Final data by industry are ready 14 months from the end of the statistical reference year.
Time series
Data according to the Standard Industrial Classification TOL 2002 are available since 2002.
