Over* 80 per cent of enterprises already connected via broadband

Correction to the statistical release on the Internet and e-commerce dated 10 October 2006. The corrections in the heading, text and figure are indicated with asterisks.

In spring 2006, altogether 83** per cent of all enterprises with at least five employees had broadband connection, whereas a year earlier the respective proportion was 73 per cent. Dispersal of broadband has continued in all enterprise size classes. Since 2002, the number of broadband connections has gone up by 44** percentage points. Nearly 90** per cent of all enterprises with at least ten employees and only slightly fewer of smaller enterprises with 5-6 employees are connected via broadband. These latest data derive from a survey conducted in spring 2006.

The transmission speeds of enterprises' broadband connections are usually quite high. Among the enterprises connected via broadband, 51 per cent had a transmission speed of at least 2 Mbps, while 15 per cent had a transmission speed of at least 8 Mbps.

Sixty-seven per cent of enterprises had home pages. The number of enterprises with home pages went up by two percentage points from the previous year. Good half of small enterprises employing 5 to 9 persons, and more than nine out of ten of enterprises with more than 50 employees had home pages.
