Inquiry on local government wages and salaries

The inquiry on local government wages and salaries collects data on monthly and hourly wages and salaries of local government personnel. In addition, the inquiry collects data on the establishments, industries, locations of activities and staff-years of
municipalities and joint municipal authorities. The inquiry is sent annually in
November to all municipalities, joint municipal authorities, wellbeing services
counties and joint county authorities for wellbeing services.

With respect to wellbeing services counties and joint county authorities for wellbeing services, the above-listed data concerning establishments were collected with the separate Business
Register inquiry on establishments
. However, new establishments of wellbeing services counties and joint county authorities for wellbeing services can also be reported in the
inquiry on local government wages and salaries.

The inquired data are used to produce statistics on local government wages and salaries, which monitor actual earnings development, for example.

Labour market organisations use the results of the inquiry in collective bargaining and other representation of interests. The results are also used in planning of municipalities and wellbeing services counties.
