Data:	Latest release: RD expenditure in the higher education sector up by 11 per cent 27 Oct 2011 In 2010 around EUR 185 million more was used on research and development than one year previously. According to Statistics Finland, the majority of the growth, 77 per cent, was directed to the higher education sector. EUR 115 million of the EUR 142 million increase recorded for the higher education sector came from the growth in external funding. The change in research made with basic State funding thus remained minor. Next release: 31 Oct 2012
Description:	The statistics on research and development describe the resources used for research, and for product and process development. R&D data are examined by sector, region and sub-regional unit. The statistics are based on data obtained from enterprises, universities, central university hospitals, polytechnics and public sector organisations. The OECD and EU recommendations are observed in the compilation of the statistics. The Statistics Act (280/2004) is applied in the production of the statistics on science and technology (incl. research and development). In addition, Commission Regulation (EC) No 753/2004 requires collection of data and steers the compilation of the statistics. Read full description >>>
