Data:	Latest release: RD expenditure grew moderately 31 Oct 2012 RD expenditure exceeded EUR 7 billion in 2011. The RD expenditure of business enterprises amounted to EUR 5.0 billion, that of the higher education sector to EUR 1.4 billion and the rest of the public sector to EUR 700 million. Growth from the previous year amounted to EUR 192 million. According to data calculated by Statistics Finland, almost all of the growth came from business enterprises where expenditure on RD increased by EUR 193 million from 2010. Although RD expenditure grew, its share of GDP turned to decline and was 3.78 per cent in 2011. Next release: 31 Oct 2013
Description:	The statistics on research and development describe the resources used for research, and for product and process development. R&D data are examined by sector, region and sub-regional unit. The statistics are based on data obtained from enterprises, universities, central university hospitals, polytechnics and public sector organisations. The OECD and EU recommendations are observed in the compilation of the statistics. The Statistics Act (280/2004) is applied in the production of the statistics on science and technology (incl. research and development). In addition, Commission Regulation (EC) No 753/2004 requires collection of data and steers the compilation of the statistics. Read full description >>>
