Volume of goods transported by lorries increased in the first quarter of 2008
In the first quarter of 2008, the volume of goods transported by lorries in domestic road transport increased by 3 per cent from the corresponding quarter of 2007. These data derive from the statistics on domestic goods transport by road compiled by Statistics Finland.
A total of 94 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorries during the January to March period of 2008. The volume of transported soil materials was 30 million tonnes while that of other goods totalled 64 million tonnes. The total transport volume of lorries was 7,169 million tonne-kilometres.
